Rick and I have been best mates for more than 50 years.
We've shared plenty of adventures over that time, but in July 2026 we'll be taking on one of our biggest yet, as we climb into our $1,500 VT Commodore Brocky tribute car and tackle the Shitbox Rally from Port Douglas to Melbourne.
Like so many Australians, both of us have lost family members and close friends to cancer.
We've seen first-hand the impact this disease has on individuals, families, and communities.
This rally is being undertaken in memory of Sue K, Geoff and Elaine B, Elke T, and Nicole C, whose memories continue to inspire us and remind us why supporting cancer research is so important.
That's why we've decided to take part in Shitbox Rally 2026 – Autumn and raise much-needed funds for Cancer Council Australia.
The Shitbox Rally is much more than a road trip. It is one of Australia's largest community fundraising events for cancer research, with every dollar raised going directly to the Cancer Council to help fund vital research, prevention programs, and support services.
Every participating team is required to raise a minimum of $5,000, and we're determined to do our part and hopefully exceed that target.
Whether your donation is large or small, every dollar helps.
Together, we can contribute to the research that will one day mean fewer families having to experience the heartbreak that cancer brings.

Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
