We’ll be coaxing a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle that we bought on marketplace for $750 (yes, really!) all the way from Port Douglas to Melbourne over 7 wild days, alongside a convoy of other equally questionable vehicles. The rally isn’t about speed—it’s about endurance, laughs, community, and most importantly: making a real difference in the fight against cancer.
This cause is personal for us. Cancer has impacted both of our families. Dan's father-in-law lost his battle with prostate cancer. Josh’s mum is a breast cancer survivor. The journeys of our loved ones are a massive reason why we’re hitting the road. Like so many Aussie families, ours have both been touched by cancer—and we want to give back by raising crucial funds for the Cancer Council.
Every team has to raise at least $5,000 (and we’d love to smash that!), with every single dollar going directly to fund life-saving cancer research. Your support—big or small—means a lot to us, and genuinely helps families facing cancer right now.

Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
