We are a Mother and Son team driving an old faithful Shitbox Camry. This car (was) well looked after with low km (600,000k +), driven by a lovely little old lady to church on Sundays. Our old faithful shitbox camry was dragged (literally), out of retirement for her first autumn 2025 shitbox rally and has held true (mostly).
Our own personal adventure will begin in Townsville, having to get our shitbox to Port Douglas start line in time for the shitbox rally. Our choice to use this particular vehicle has come from the vehicle having long earnt its keep to where it has no value left, but too sentimental to abandon without letting it go out without a bang.
Like most Australian families, Cancer has affected us and although we can’t change what is, we believe in doing our part to make things better for those still fighting and especially for the next generation. after successfully reaching our target last year, we have set ourselves a target to match (or better), last year's target. Hoping to raise a minimum of $8000 for cancer council.
Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount. These funds go to Cancer Council, and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
