We're thrilled to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2026 - Autumn! We’ll be hitting the road in our $1,500-or-less Shitbox, driving from Port Douglas to Melbourne on an unforgettable 7-day adventure. It’s not just about the drive—it’s about making a real difference in the fight against cancer.
I’m Wayne and have experienced both of my parents having cancer and am lucky that both have lived through the experience. My dad, Laurie, is joining me on the rally and we are both really excited to push our repair skills to the limit to not only keep our shitbox on the journey but to help our companions also make the distance.
Laurie and I are huge motorsport fans, and we are lucky to have competed in a variety of grass roots events over the years sometimes as a team, sometimes direct competition. Dad, who taught me how to work on cars from a young age, and while over retirement age is still working as a mechanic, was the first person I thought of to help me with the rally.
In 2018 I was able to purchase a Lexus IS200 and convert it into a car to compete in track days, regularities, supersprints. For me the natural choice was to find another IS200 to journey Australia with Shitbox Rally and raise money for cancer research. At the point of writing this, I have just picked up said shitbox IS200!
Every participating team is required to raise a minimum of $5,000 we have set our goal at double that $10,000. Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council and helps fund vital cancer research, which is why we’re doing everything we can to hit our goal. Your support, whether big or small, will have a real impact.

Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
