A South African guy and a Kiwi girl travel the Australian Outback in an absolute shitbox of a car. Sounds like the start of a joke (and you wouldn’t be wrong) but what we are about to undertake is not just about adventure, but also doing good, and we want to take you along with us. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
So what are we doing exactly? From July 11th - July 17th 2026, Ewan and April will be hitting the road in our $1500-or-less Shitbox. We will be starting at Port Douglas and driving close to 3000 kilometres (about 1800 miles) on a 7 day adventure through the Australian Outback.
Fun Fact: April has refused to camp since sometime in the 90s.
We aren’t just doing this so Ewan can torture April all day with Dad Jokes, every participating team is required to raise a minimum of $5000 to even begin the race. Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council and helps fund vital cancer research, which is why we’re doing everything we can to hit our goal. Your support, whether big or small, will have a real impact. It’s not just about the drive—it’s about making a real difference in the fight against cancer.

Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
